working on the intinerary

ugh ~ it's so difficult to plan a trip this big on your own... here's what i have planned so far~

Tuesday, May 11th
1:15 fly to japan


Wednesday, May 12th
-arrive @ narita airport (terminal 1) 3:00pm local Tokyo time
-collect baggage and go through customs
-get 2 7-day JR passes
-take narita express to tokyo station OR take limo bus directly to hotel
-6:00 ish? check into hotel

Thursday, May 13th
-Imperial Palace (皇居 Kōkyo) (subway otemachi - open 9-4 in by 3, closed mon, fri and dec25-jan3) (register online for free guided tour daily at 10AM and 2PM) (east gardens open daily except mon and fri) (Chiyoda)

-Tokyo Tower
-Roppongi Hills
-Sony Building (5-3-1 Ginza (on Sukiyabashi Crossing))
-Kabuikaza Theatre (4-12-15 Ginza) (torn down?!)
-Shinjuku / Kabukicho
-karaoke

(not all of that will fit in one day so friday is still not planned)

Friday, May 14th
-Ghibli Museum (1-1-83 Simorenjaku, Mitaka-shi, Tokyo 181-0013)(must by tickets in advance at Lawson conbini) - take subway from shinjuku to Mitaka, then take bus to museum (or walk)


Saturday, May 15th
-go to Akihabara
-@home cafe
-Little BSD
-cafe mai:lish
-capsule hotel - http://www.capsuleinn.com/ (in akihabara - closed?!)


Sunday, May 16th
-Shibuya -check out 109 building & hachikō (ハチ公) statue
-Harajuku -takeshita dori & bridge
-yoyogi park
-Meiji Shrine (1-1 yoyogi, kamizono-cho, shibuya-ku - subway meiji jingo-nae - JR harajuku and yoyogi - open sunrise to sunset, except 3rd fri - garden open 9-4:30)


Monday, May 17th
-take shinkansen to Kyoto
-gion kaburenjo theatre
-gion corner
-call Peter MacIntosh to confirm between 11-3 (090-5169-1654)
-geisha walking tour 4:30-6


Tuesday, May 18th
-Kinkakuji Temple
-fushimi inari taisha shrine
-pontocho


Wednesday, May 19th

Friday, May 21st
-go to Sensōji (2-3-1 asakusa, taito-ku - open 24 hours)

-go to nakamise dori
-check into ryokan
